Not having any secondary dynamic O-ring on the shaft or sleeve, the elastomer hanging-up caused by leakage or excessive misalignment is completely avoided. Completely made of Hastelloy* C, the Style 580 has totally eliminated the sole negative side of this kind of seals, the possibility of corrosive attacks on the thinner part of the bellow. In the welded metal bellow seal the bellow itself provides the spring loading necessary to maintain face contact. Because the bellow is a one piece unit supported both around its circumference and along its total length an even pressure is applied to all points on the sliding faces. This seal offers the best solution to a wide range of applications, on high and low temperatures, on viscous liquids and slurries.
